Sayer date is a popular export fruit of Iran and one of the sweetest dates in the world. Some also call it Saer, Stamaran and Samaran. The ease of separating dates from the seed, sufficient sweetness and no need for refrigeration make this product suitable for the food industry to produce processed date products such as date syrup, date paste, date powder, etc.
It is produced mainly in southwestern Iran and Khuzestan. Sayer dates are light brown and some are dark brown, depending on the type of cultivation. These dates are oval in shape and may have different flavors depending on the weather. The shell of this date is relatively separate from its flesh. Sayer dates are semi-dry with less than 18% moisture content and their length is from 2.5 cm to 4.8 cm. Sayor dates are rich in vitamins A, B, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, fiber and potassium like other types of dates.
